We know that Huawei, the world’s third-largest smartphone maker, will be unveiling the Mate 9 at an event in Munich, German on Thursday, November 3 but with an additional leak today we also have a pretty good idea what to expect at the event this week when the company shows us its flagship phablet.

Did Huawei leak the Mate 9 on purpose?

With all leaks of a product before its launch day (perhaps outside of Apple) you have to ask if the leak might have been intentional. It’s free press for the company as I and others who write about phone rumors and leaks take to our keyboards. Earlier rumors which are not confirmed by the photos leaked point today to Huawei releasing two versions of the Mate 9; one with a flat screen and a curved-screen offering that many are suggesting will be called the Mate 9 Pro. The phone is expected to step up the camera offerings while also giving customers phenomenal battery life if the rumors are to be believed.

Today’s leaks offer actual photos of the device and a few specs as well. The picture in question shows the device with a flat screen, so if there is to be a Pro version, this is not it.

Firstly, the fingerprint reader that allows for unlocking and the use of Android Pay is on the back of the device. The same back of the device seems to house two cameras that are believed to be 20-megapixels with an additional 12-megapixel camera comprising the array that will include a dual-LED flash according to other rumors.

The last photo of the Huawei Mate 9 is taken from the listing for pre-orders and give us an understanding of the power “under the hood” of the new phablet. First, the phone is meant to sport a tremendous 5.9-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display which should provide fantastic viewing of photos, videos and, well, everything else. Being Huawei, users should expect the phone to incorporate the company’s Emotion UI skin and will almost certainly be running Android 7.0 Nouget out of the box. The Mate 9 will have 6GM of RAM and be powered by the Kirin 960 64-bit Octa-core processor. Today’s leak of the pre-order listing also have a massive 256GB of internal storage and will not include the ability to add more with SD cards.

Whether or not this is what will see this week will have to wait until Thursday in Munich.
